Kickboxing Helps Seniors Stay Well
A new kickboxing class is being offered in the San Fernando Valley exclusively for the elderly. The average participant is eighty five years old. Yes, you read that right – eighty five. The class’s main purpose is to help these seniors stave off diseases such as dementia, Alzheimers, and Parkinson’s. It may not permanently prevent those conditions from setting in but studies have shown that the health benefits from kickboxing can help delay the onset of those diseases as well as lessen their negative effects when or if they do set in.
The class is a half hour low-impact full body work out for the elderly who must be extremely young at heart. Among the direct benefits that help them maintain overall health is better balance, better mood, and many more. The instructor’s age? In some cases, sixty years younger than the students. This also provides overwhelming proof that if you skip your workout you are just plain lazy.
