Kickboxing Grandmother Competes Against Those Three Decades Younger
Sharon Garner is one of the most fierce kickboxers, not just at her 62 year old age, but in general. After her health started to steadily decline three years ago she started training with kickboxing and since then she admits that she is in the best shape that she has ever been and is feeling great as well and, oh yeah, she is a grandmother of eight. She trains four times a week for an hour and a half each session which is much more than people half her age spend at a normal gym.
So far, Garner says that kickboxing has greatly help her battle with arthritis and mental depression. At the gym that she trains at she is the oldest member by about a quarter century but that hasn’t slowed her down one bit. Incredibly, kickboxing is only part of her fitness regimen as she also goes for runs of up to five miles in length and trains with aerobics as well. She often jumps in the ring during training to spar with other kickboxers who are sometimes half her age. Since her great success with kickboxing she has gained local celebrity as well as now gaining semi-international fame for her fitness feats.
